Potty Training your puppy is about consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. It typically takes 4-6 months to get a puppy fully house trained. But some can take up to a year.

When to begin potty training:

it is best to begin potty training your puppy when he is between 12 weeks and 16 weeks old. At that point, he has enough control of his bladder.

Steps on how to potty train your puppy:

  • Keep your puppy on a regular feeding schedule and take away his food after eating
  • Take your puppy out first thing in the morning and then once every 30 minutes to an hour. Always take your puppy out after every meal and when he wakes up after a nap.
  • Stay outside with your puppy until he emptied his bladder , When he does reward him with either a treat or lots of praise.

Always remember accidents are common in puppies never punish your puppy when he empties his bladder in the house. When catching your puppy in the act clap loudly then take him outside. Never put your puppy’s nose in the smell and then hit him with a newspaper this won’t help at all.

When cleaning accidents make sure you use a product that does not have any ammonia in for dogs it smells like urine.
